Leave Slavery To Those Suited For It

One of the best things about quitting your job is that you are vacating a position that will probably be quickly filled after you leave. The boss will have another cubicle jockey at your terminal before your office chair is even cold. So what does it tell you that you can be so easily replaced by someone who is eager to jump into that spot?

Does it tell you that you're "lucky to have a job, especially in this economy"? Or does it tell you that you were never valued to begin with? Does it tell you that you are underutilized? Does it tell you that you're just a cog in the machine?

What it tells you is that the job isn't right for you and you aren't right for it. But there probably is someone out there who is just right for your position. Someone unambitious, someone who not only knows how to take orders but relishes not having to think for himself, someone who has been beaten into the proper shape to fit the round hole that a square peg like you just can't fit.

Believe me, there are plenty of them. US colleges are cranking them out every day with the uniformity of a McDonald's Big Mac, every one the same. That's what colleges are, factories to produce workers. What? Did you think they were "institutions of higher learning"?

When you make your departure, you leave that job open and help that person who is not as brave as you get just what they need: slavery. Throughout history, some slaves actually preferred servitude to freedom. Some even revolted against abolition instead of revolting against slavery.

They were satisfied to be slaves because they were afraid of the unknown, of what they would face if their support systems were taken away. If slavery suits some people, leave them to it. However, if you're not cut out for slavery, it's time to consider your escape. And there's no time like the present.

By leaving your job you are not only benefitting yourself. You're benefitting your employer and someone without ambition who will walk in the door after you with resume in hand more than ready to pick up where you left off. That's a win-win-win.

And don't walk away thinking that the company is going to crumble without you because it most likely won't, especially if you weren't a founder. It was there before you. 99 times out of 100 it'll be there after you.

After all, you are not quitting your job to hurt anybody, to rub it in their face and make them pay. — Although the thought of a big, fat "I told you so" is always good inspiration to succeed. Much better than those lame motivational posters. — No, you're walking away to improve yourself.

Keep your focus on the positive (improving yourself), not hurting someone else ("They'll be sorry I'm gone."). Intention plays a big part in success. Many times if you set out to make a fool of someone else you'll wind up only making a fool of yourself. Don't play that game.

Intent is the seed from which results grow. If you initiate a process with positivity in mind you can more easily cultivate success. If you sow a negative seed, you're more likely to reap bitter fruit. When it comes time to harvest you only want the cream of the crop.

What To Do If Your Bright Ideas Aren't Appreciated

How many times have you had a great idea and saw someone else run with it? Now, think about the times you've had a great idea, presented it to the boss, then either had it executed wrong or rejected outright. That stings, but what burns even worse is seeing that idea set in motion somewhere else the right way and watching it turn out to be successful.

Worst of all is the burn that comes from giving over one of your great ideas, seeing it used, having it be successful, then getting little or no credit for it. Maybe you'll get a pat on the back and a gift card to Chili's. At best, you'll get a "bonus" that'll pay for a night out at Chili's with your girlfriend. "Way to go, cog in the machine! Keep up the good work!"

So what happens? You shut down. You tell yourself that you're going to do the bare minimum and let the idiots miss out on all your great recommendations. Well, that's one way to approach things, but it's not the ideal.

In that frame of mind, you're not only hurting your boss. You're hurting yourself because you've just turned what could have been a productive career into a dead-end job. You're also hurting the people who rely on your business because without the improvements your ideas can bring they're not getting the best that they deserve as customers.

A better way to deal with your creativity being stifled is to become your own boss so that you can implement any idea you want and do it the right way. Benefit you, benefit the customers who will be receiving the quality they deserve, and benefit your boss by taking away that pesky employee who kept bringing up those hare-brained ideas.

After all, he is the boss. He gets to sail the ship along the course he's charted, even if he sails directly into the rocks.

Employers who don't know how to apply the breakthroughs you bring them will only sap your will to improve your performance. Without motivation, there is no innovation. So get rid of the stumbling blocks in your path to greatness.

Quit your job, follow your own entrepreneurial path, and take back your inspiration to develop the highest quality goods and services you're capable of delivering. That way you get to implement your own ideas as an independent. When you get rid of your job, you gain the opportunity to control your own productivity.

The Critical Step You Must Take To Stop Wasting Time And Start Producing Results

Many jobs in the modern workplace value time (quantity) over results (quality). Wage-slaves get paid for the time they spend doing their jobs instead of the quality of the job they perform. There is no good reason a high-performing worker who excels at his job should settle for the same earnings as the office screw-up.

And in some workplaces, where seniority is rewarded over competence, the low man on the totem pole can be doing the best quality work but getting only a fraction of the pay of the clock-puncher who's been around for years simply because of the difference in the date of hire. You don't need me to tell you that's a raw deal.

Inattentive employers are fooled into thinking busywork means things are getting accomplished. The shuffling of papers, moving around the work floor, pointless meetings. These things add up to getting the job done for unimaginative bosses.

The favorite saying of bad labor managers everywhere is "If you've got time to lean, you've got time to clean." That says it all. That sums up what they think work is. If it doesn't result in rushing around like a chicken with its head cut off it must not be work.

These bosses don't have the vision to see that employees might be using their minds to come up with a more productive way to work. They would rather see you sweeping an already clean floor instead of thinking up designs for a more efficient broom. Don't slip into this way of thinking, and don't continue working for someone who does. These people confuse ACTivity with PRODUCTivity. Thinking like this produces a colossal time drain, and your time is too valuable to waste.

Do you get paid by the hour? Why? Why not get paid by the amount of work you do? That's your true value, what you're able to produce for the company.

Lots of employers without vision prefer the money-for-time method of compensation because if every worker got paid what he was worth they wouldn't be able to afford the employees with the highest output.

Think about the days you came into work and were lazy, maybe only giving it half of what you were capable of. It happens from time to time to almost everybody. Now compare those times with the days you kicked ass and did twice as much as you had planned on doing. If you got the same amount of pay for both days, you're getting screwed in the long run.

If that doesn't seem unreasonable to you, maybe you should reconsider. There are certain employees whose default mode is half-assed. They do only enough just to get by. Then you have the superstars, the ones who consistently knock it out of the park. Do both of these people add the same amount of value to your team? According to the boss's pay scale they do. Now you see how unreasonable simply trading money for time is.

If you get paid the same amount for surfing the net and hiding in the bathroom (time wasted) as you do for busting ass and saving the day (time invested), then how is that fair to you or your paymaster? Wouldn't you prefer that on the days when there's nothing to do at your job you get to go home and spend your time as you see fit rather than just counting down the hours? Better yet, how about if you complete whatever assigned tasks you have for that day in three hours instead of eight then you get paid the same amount and you still get that extra five hours to go home and spend your time as you see fit? I'm sure that sounds way more reasonable to you.

Quitting your job will give you that gain in leisure time if that's what you so desire. Even better, it will also give you more time to work. That's right. You don't want to quit working. You want to quit your job so you can do real work.

You can focus your time in pursuit of income in a manner you see fit, and there's no cap on how much time you can put into it once you quit your job. The more you want to work the more productive you'll be and the more you'll earn. Any employer who crabs about paying you for overtime certainly isn't going to encourage you to burn the midnight oil if it benefits you more than him.

To get paid for face time instead of results is to get the short end of the stick. The most important step in building your wealth is to quit your job. You'll never get rich working for someone else.
